    newbie, plz handle w/care

    want to be able sit on couch in other room and surf net wirelessly.
    i have DSL and the modem is a 5200 speedstream and my laptop is a Toshiba TE2100 with built in 802.11b. this all i have, no other computers, networking, nothing.
    what do i need to obtain? i do not know difference between a wireless access point, routers, adapters , cards whatever.
    and suggest brand/model if possible.

    If you have a B card in your laptop, then you need a B router. Most now of days routers have B/G so i might suggest getting one of those because you probaly might upgrade to a G card one day. You dont need anything else except the router. Maybe check my guides (link in sig) and they can give you a better grip on wireless and a little info on what router might be right for you. Good Luck!
