Is the NIC intended for a server or can this be used for a wireless router?

Right now, the multi-function printer is not hooked up to any dedicated computer right now, and just hooked up to the wireless router. Just to note, I am unable to ping the IP address given by the network setup printout. Please help!

I doubt it had a print server built it, so plugging it into a router won't do anything. You probably need ot buy a print server.

Then what's the point of having an integrated NIC? Print servers come with USB/LPT ports, don't they?

What printer is it? Some printers can be plugged into a router for network printing.

A simple wireless router will do. Then you can connect a wired print server to one of the router wired ports and that's it. Or, you can just connect the printer to one of the PCs, if you're OK with the fact that this PC will have to be on for the printer to operate.

Or you can find a wireless router with an integrated print server.
