So i use net limiter to monitor data transfer and a few days ago i notice it downloading consistently but not uploading. (uploading scares me more hence why i haven't posted til now) I figured at first it was normal and i just never noticed it but it had been consistent far too much and has been bothering me. Anyone know why it is happening...it is creeping me out because it stays at 5-14KBps for far to long. I use kaspersky, which annoys me because it lumps all traffic in the system section so i can't track data without turning it off :/ but whatever is going on doesn't get lumped into system by kaspersky so it is odd. I turned kaspersky off to see if the data moved to another section but it stayed in unrelated. It is also spread out over 10s or 100s of IP addressed transferring 0-1KBps...tens(sp?) to be .01-.5KBps. I dont think i run anything that would cause suck traffic. I attached a screen shot below.

Anyways, thanks for any help you can give me.

huh? I have like 5 programs opened? All those programs i have run under system as i stated earlier because of kaspersky. So this stuff that is running at 15KBps for hours has nothing to do with a single program i have opened.

@KLF so this is normal? So i just have never noticed windows downloading at 15KBps for hours before?

You have 3 browsers that are open at the same time and we dont even know what pages are loaded in those browsers. You have Steam, Outlook and DropBox thats also running. Do you honestly think that none of them are sending data in the background with 2393 connections??

Close everything, go in to msconfig and disable everything from loading at start up. Then see if you still have data going in or out.

Where is the screen shot of NetLimiter that is showing which programs are doing all the data uploading and downloading??

I have no idea what is shared on that local network but basically your computer asks all the others what they are sharing, how's their printer doing, stuff like that. If there's lot of computers, there will be a lot of traffic too.

So forget ports 137 and 138 for now. If they bother too much you could probably kill windows file sharing services (as if I'd google for you what they are called ;)).

Don't expect that :) Just probing for the right direction. This is new transfer for me seeing a very consistent transfer is odd. It wouldn't surprise me to see a burst here and there but a steady 5-15KBps over hours is odd to me.

and yes KGB7 as far as i can tell Steam, outlook, Opera, Mozilla, Chrome all go through "system" now because of kaspersky. They used to be their own program but ever since kaspersky has been installed it sends all traffic through "system" because kaspersky scans it before it comes in or out hence why it is weird to see 15KBps through "unrelated" category. I wish netlimiter wasn't so ridiculously expensive. I would pay 5 bucks for it but it is like 35 bucks :/ If it was 35 for unlimited home use i would pay 35 bucks for my 2-3 computers/future ones but man for a program probably made by one person it is expensive :/

As of right now it appears i shouldn't be overly concerned about it since it is just downloading.
