I share the network with my friends, but they've been using p2p apps like crazy, so I am wondering if there's any program I can use to stop them?

a decent firewall that blocks unwanted outgoing traffic would do the trick :D

Do they use P2P like limewire or do they use torrents?

I ask because you can block the ports on the router for those and they wouldnt be able to connect anymore.

Can you access the router's admin webpage? If so, you should be able to set the QoS limits to give preference to non P2P usage (or, alternatively, to reduce the priority given to those uses).

bittorrents. I got disconnect all the time when they start it. and yes I can access the admin page, but don't know what settings should i change? it's netgear WPN824v3. I would like to shut their BT off completely instead of just reducing their priorities.

As Shyster said, use the QoS feature to limit your friends bandwidth.

Well you could block the range of ports that are commonly used for bit torrents (and hope nothing legit wants to get in). However if they use encryption then that wouldn't work. (correct me if im wrong).

The only thing you could do is limit their priority. However the easiest thing is to tell them and as to lower their upload speeds to something reasonable (or quit using them).

I'd say just set a password on your wireless connection and don't tell your friends about it.
