What router are you connecting too? It's always better to try to match chips sets.

Is this going to replace the internal card on your notebook or external usage?

The 11a can have higher speeds that 11g. May change your setting and see if it is before replacing the internal card.

Very few routers support the 11a cards, these were mainly used by business.

You 3945ABG is a pci-express card. Get the intel 11n card that has the same buss. Then remove the abg drivers from you system and power down your NB. On your notebook there should be a cover on the back to gain access to the wireless card. Unplug the ac power and remove the battery before doing any service. Then swap the card out (disconnect the antennas, and release tabs holding the card in). Power back up and have the driver ready to install. You will need to setup the security on your new router and 11n card. I recommend WPA2 AES using a min of 20 chr string of all printable chr for the key. I download my keys from ww.grc.com save to notepad. Then use all or part of the 63 chr strings, save for future use.

Check with the mfg of you notebook and see what cards they are using and supporting. This will give you more compatiability.

Very true I use the intel 5300 very good card to use.
Ask for a wireless router that supports the N band (better for you) from your cable company

Watch out for the ebay ones, they sometimes are ES versions which Drop the connection and the mac on the lable doesn't match the real one.
