ok, most of you don't really know me here. but thats ok. i usually just offer advice (rarely) and browse.

today my intel wireless 2200BG stopped working. it had nothing to do with my external antenna mod, the card was just running hot then hotter, then cold as a corpse 6ft under....

so now my options (if any)????

    should i buy:

another Intel 2200BG (can find plenty on ebay)
buy a Intel 2915 (should work)
atheros (not sure if will work or compatible or will fit)
    broadcom (not sure either)

can i even use a different wlan?

    all replies would be great
    thnx

(i've had my laptop apart numerous times. i know i don't have a awhole lot of space i can mod to fit if needed)

I would recommend getting a new Intel 2200 card. Just replace it, and install the drivers again. There very widely available, and there are qute relaible, so why not. As you said, there are loads on ebay. Just try and get a new one, instead of a used, as the price difference, won't be too much.

I'd suggest just getting another Intel 2200BG card as well. They're cheap, reliable, and you can find them almost anywhere.
Wireless A is rarely ever used, and wireless N won't be out for a long time...

The best: Buy another Intel 2200BG.
Other: Buy a PCMCIA or an USB wifi card!

i'm checking the out EMP-8602 6G 400mW High Power mini PCI Card that blue68f100 point me too.

just checking with seller & manufacturer to see if it will work with my setup. wont know til monday. if it does & will i'll find the best price and buy it. then post my results

i need to see if my wireless external antenna mod will still work. i dont you my modem on my laptop so i modded the system and added an antenna. you can find the hack on "hackaday".

i have done other mods to my system too. but that is for another section.
