Title says it all... my download speeds are horrible out here, but my game lag isn't bad at all unless I have a game running and netflix at the same time - the it's rough.

What I have is a Siemen's Gigaset SE567 that came from the DSL company. We live out in the booneys and we're on the edge of their service too on super old phone lines. I've replaced everything in the house from the pole - so that's all new. Now I'm looking at upgrading the actual router/modem.

I ordered the 3x3 mimo 6300 with the m18x... I just don't know much about routers to be honest. What do you recomend? Give me the ultimate best and then the best bang for the buck around $100. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Cisco E4300 should be sufficient....

As far as DSL modems go, that your ISP handles, you should NOT buy a DSL modem from a third party, they are a PITA to configure if you do not know how to set them up, plus most ISP's won't support your issues.

Sounds like you don't get much bandwidth, there's nothing you can do unless the company offers a higher tier, and it will lag if you are watching netflix and trying to game, netflix requires about 1.5-2mbit minimum for stable streaming and it sounds like that's what you probably have.

    Thanks for the info!

My current modem/router are built into a single unit from the company. I have heard that programming an aftermarket modem for DSL is horrid and they won't help on the phone... bah! So what you mean to tell me is that I need to just stick with what I've got.

You're right, it's a bandwidth issue. I'm only getting like 200kbs when downloading at any given time. They cannot explain this to me... games run fine though as long as Netflix isn't running elsewhere.

Idk, I was just hoping to find something on my end that would help - if even only just a small amount. Sounds like I should stick with what I've got.

At some point in history - they ran phone lines to every home in the US... why the heck haven't they ran cable lines??? Man! I really miss my Cable Internet and what really sucks is that locally they just added the high end stuff for like $60 a month... I'm paying almost $100 for half-butt DSL. It's sad really.

Anyone know of any techniques to get service out to remote locations? I'm about two miles from the closest cable line.

Try resetting everything you should be getting higher speeds then that maybe you have ports blocked and need to unblock ports

I think LVNeptune meant Cisco Linksys E4200 but it's some $180 so above your budget.
Upgrading hardware may not help at all if your connection is very poor.
Please log in to the modem and find DSL connection properties.
Find these values and post them here: Line Rate, Noise Margin, Line Attenuation, Output Power (post values for both downstream and upstream)

Will do, thanks in advance for your help.

I've been getting on to my service provider about since day one but they continue to blow me off. I keep setting up in-home service calls and they never show up. I just got tired of calling.

As I mentioned before, I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to router/modems. Of course, I know all the basic tricks and the querks that come with having DSL, but I've mostly lived in town with cable internet until the last year or so and I've never had a problem with the Cable stuff. So I never really had to do much with the router. Anyways, I cannot find any information on how to access my router. They gave me nothing. Isn't there a standard web address for all routers? If not, I'll get on the Siemens website and see what I can find later tonight.

You won't find anything on Siemens website because Siemens sold its networking department and what's left of it is (or was) called Nokia-Siemens Networking Division or something like that.
There should be a sticker on the modem with its default IP and login and password

The modem itself has nothing but a mac address on it the bottom of it.
