hi, i am using a gateway mt3705 and if i put my laptop to sleep when it wakes up it disconnects from my wireless connection and the network is not listed when i go to reconnect. i have to restart my computer to get the network back. It is a linksys router and i am running vista premium on the laptop. any help would be great as this is getting rather frustrating.

What wireless card do you have?

And do you have the Intel Proset Wireless software?

Note* When you put the laptop to sleep the wireless shuts off, your problem is that when you wake your laptop back up the wireless doesn't work unless you reboot?

the card is an integrated "Realtek8185 Extensible 802.11 b/g wireless device"

and no i do not believe i have any software on here for the wireless.

and yes that is correct, after waking up the computer the wireless connection is gone, which i know that when it enters sleep mode it disconnects network conncections. but when i go to the list of available connections the list is empty. i tried turning the wireless on and off using the keyboard shortcut and i tried disabling the wireless device however when i go to re-enable it i click enable and is says enabling however the icon for the device still says disabled. the only way i can get back online is to reboot and everytime i do the network is right back in the list.

i still havent fixed this. anyone have any ideas? I have talked to gateway support and they said to use gateway recovery to update the drivers and there is no wireless driver there. and i tried gateways website to get drivers but the drivers on their website are for intel wireless cards and mine is realtek. but just to try it i downloaded the intel proset and nothing happened. this is getting very frustrating haveing to reboot if it goes into sleep mode.

I think I might have an answer for you. I also was having this issue and it took me about 2 weeks of poking around before I finally found it.
Go to Device Manager, then to Network adapters, and then look for your network adapter, and then Power Management, then Unclick the box that says "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power.
I also was having this issue but it was also with USB. I was using a USB network adapter so that I could use external equipment. I couldn't figure out how come this would lose connection and sometimes even the mouse stop working. I looked thru all the USB listings in the device manager and found "USB Root HUB" also had "Allow the computer to turn this device off to save power. Now that I have them unclicked the USB Adapter is now holding its connection.
Just setting your Laptop to High Performance mod doesn't unclick that box. You have to turn this off in the device manager. Now that I have it done, My new laptop with Vista is working much better. I hope this helps someone.
