hey fellas I am looking to get myself a decent wireless setup for temp use until the prices drop on the N setups and I get my new laptop (hopefully within a few months) Right now I just need to get on the net with my old desktop. I would like to spend less the 75$ and I need to get it soon. I was looking at these from future shop the trendnet wireless g and usb wireless adapter at9.98 after rebates and the d-link wireless g starter kit with usb wireless adapter at 49.99 or the d-link wbr 1310 and some sort of adapter for my desktop any other suggestions I need to go from the basement up to the second floor or the house will any of these work ok for me thanks for the help

Hate to burst your bubble but it's going to be toward the end of the year before 11n is ratified. And current 11n hardware does not provide any greater coverage over a good 11g hardware. Some provide better speed but conflict with other hardware. None meet the newer 2.0 spec. And beside if there is any 11b or 11g hardware it's drops out of 11n. So just invest in a good 11g hardware. Or if your set on 11n, buy a good wired router and add a AP later.

Since you are needing to penetrate 2 floors you will need a good unit. It would be better if you could run a wire to your 2nd floor or set the AP up on the 1st floor it would be much easier.

The Linksys WRT64GL is a good unit, just stay away from the std g v5 model. Most all wireless routers sell for the same price range ~$50. Unless it's a 11n than it double.

This above model will serve you well.
