Its an All in One Router meaning it has:
    All-in-one Internet-sharing Router
    4-port Switch
    54Mbps Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point

A Regular Wrt54G router is basically all you need to just be wireless. (Plus the wireless card).

There are at least 6 versions of the WRT54G router, counting the -L. The WRT54GL is the newest 'version' of the Linksys Linux-based routers. They recently released the WRT54G v5, which uses a completely different operating system that isn't as friendly to being modified, as many people do to make the router do things it can't out-of-the-box. This caused a minor uproar in the community that tinkers with thier routers, and so Linksys released the -L to appease that group.

If this means nothing to you, then you don't need to worry about which version of the WRT54G you get.
