99% of all routers have someone who will call them "garbage". I would reccommend Linksys over Belkin and Netgear, but D-Links are not too bad if you ge a working one. But a g+ router should suit your gaming needs... unless you just wanted to go N and got an adapter for your ps3 :)

I have a linksys WRT54G (not the WRT54G2) in use as a wireless access point. I personally dislike Linksys, they used to be pretty awesome (amazingly until they were acquired by Cisco). I agree with Bubbleboy, I would go D-Link if I were you. Linksys routers tend to die pretty easily in my experience (too much steady use like heavy downloading, especially torrenting seems to make them permanently unstable).

Yup, and just to prove your point, I would recommend Netgear over DLink, Linksys, and Belkin, in descending order with Belkin being the worst.

there are hacks for the firmware used by linksys routers. when installed, you can wack the power up to rediculous hights and get crazy good reception. look at getting one of them cheap on ebay then doing the firmware hack. if the router is shared you can also set custom limits for how much bandwith each computer gets. ie, if your into gaming or downloading, put yours high and limit anyone elses internet to low bandwith usage. that way you always get good pings and data rates. harsh, but they shouldnt be sponging off your internet! lol

    My views:

    D-Link > Netgear > Linksys > Belkin.

Well, at least it seems we all agree on one thing, Belkin's at the bottom! :)
