    hello.
i've enabled port forwrding on my linksys router (wrt54g) for port 49152 and the ip assigned is 192.168.1.100.
since i have two laptops, the laptop with 192.168.1.100 gets assigned 192.168.1.101 if the second laptop is in use.
how do i port forward 49152 for both of these ip addresses?

This is not allowed. You can't forward traffic from one port to two different machines. This would certain crash your router. You can either make the IPs static to the MAC address of the laptop, or simply change a '0' to a '1' when you need to.

I don't think you can. The point of port forwarding is to direct specific port traffic to one specific machine. Why do you need to do this? If you give us the details maybe we can suggest other options.

Certainly whatever software you need to listen on port 49152 allows you to choose which port to use. On one computer, listen to 49152. On the other, listen to 49153.

You can't forward one port to two ip addresses. Port forwarding is designed for a single computer.

Do an IP mapping, generally it's with the lan setup. It uses the mac address of the pc to assign the IP. I do it all the time with server hardware. Every router is different just will need to look.

If your router doesn't support IP mapping via MAC address, then you need to give your laptop a static IP address. AFAIK, most Linksys routers do not have IP mapping - you need to run a custom firmware like HyperWRT.
