i have a home network set up on a router. recently i've bought a thinkpad r60. when i got it, i tested to see if it would connect to the LAN, and it did straight out of the box. now, it doesn't seem to want to connect - looks like it can't acquire the network address and gives me limited (no) connectivity. the computer (Desktop) i'm using right now works/connects to the network/internet fine from the same router cable. what might be the problem?

Have you tried giving the cable modem/dsl router and main router a power cycle to see if that helps? Sometimes you can get IP conflicts.

If you plug your nic cable in after your nb is up. you may need to cycle the port for it to retrive the current settings. Try disabling the port then re-enable it. Also make sure your router has the correct mac address. Comcast ties it users by modem mac address and the pc used to setup the account. So you may need to clone your mac address from your desktop into the router.
