Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew what wireless cards were compatible with the lenovo y400/y500 and where I could buy one of the aforementioned cards. I was also wondering if anyone knew where to find the lenovo white-list of compatible hardware.

    Thanks,
    Jake

See the HMM, pages 79-80. Good luck finding where you can buy, the approved FRU. :D

Thanks, for the help, I'm going to try an intel centrino 6250, I've seen them running in other Lenovo models so hopefully it will work, if it doesn't it was only $10, I'll post back if it works in case anyone is interested.

6250s made for Lenovo notebooks will work, others will not, if it has a FRU #, chances are you're good to go. It's usually in the product description whether it is meant for Lenovos or not.

Just thought that I would throw out an update, I tried a wifi card (6250 centrino) with an FRU # and it did not work, I'm not entirely certain what the correct FRU # for this series of laptops is, however, 60Y3195 does not work.

Just a note for anyone else, contemplating upgrading their Y400/Y500 Wireless card,

The correct Lenovo FRU#'s for the Y400/Y500, are the 20xxxxxx at the end of the following lines:

    11 WLAN, WiFi 2x2 BGN+BT4.0 Intel 2230 BGN+BT M PCIE HMC 20200078
    11 WLAN, 3*3 Intel 6300N MOW M PCIE NB HMC (LI) 20002323
    11 WLAN, WiFi 1x1 BGN Cbt BCM94313HMG 1x1BGN HMC 20200102
    11 WLAN, WiFi 1x1 BGN Liteon HB125 1x1BGN HMC 20200223
    11 WLAN, WiFi 2x2 ABGN+BT4.0 Cbt BCM943228HMB 2x2ABGN+BT4.0 HMC 20200221
    11 WLAN, WiFi 2x2 ABGN+BT4.0 Liteon WB222 2x2ABGN+BT4.0 HMC 20200225
    11 WLAN, WiFi 1x1 BGN+BT4.0 Cbt BCM943142HM 1x1BGN+BT4.0 HMC 20200222
    11 WLAN, WiFi 1x1 BGN+BT4.0 Liteon WB225 1x1BGN+BT4.0 HMC 20200224

"60Y3195" is not a Lenovo FRU number.

No disrespect to the OP. I really feel his pain. In the "old days", I could have just called IBM Sales Group, given them this FRU number, and they would have shipped out the upgraded card pronto.

"Those were the good old days".
