    laptop wireless question

    I am looking at a few sager laptops. I have a wireless b router. the laptops i'm looking at come with a/g/n built in wireless. now will that recognize my wireless b router so i can connect wirelessly with the laptop

    If it only broadcasts Wireless B, I don't think so.

    Needless, if you're going to spend $1,000+, you should spare in your budget to get a new router.

    I think g is backwards compatible w/ b....not positive though.

    I know it's already been said, but the more the merrier: G is completely compatible with b. They just skip over it in the general documentation. instead of saying a/b/g/n they just say a/g/n because of g's bacward compatibility with b.

    so if i would buy a lappy with a/g/n it would work with my b router fine for connecting...
    i suppose it would be the B speeds though, eh?

    Yes b speed which is 11Mbps max. There should be an option in the WiFi card's properties [via Device Manager] to either set it to mixed mode or b. This would allow it to connect to the router.

    You can buy a 802.11g router for $20.
