    laptop problems with wireless conection

    have just acquired a laptop and I am having problems with wireless connection, when in the same room as my router connection is excellent but when i move out it goes very low or nothing at all, can someone please tell me what to do about this, someone suggested that I google it, could you tell me what this is and how to do it, as you will probably gather I am a real novice at this, sorry.

    Check to see if the wireless card is set to use full power at all times. Some (if on batteries) will use a low power setting when on batteries. These can be found in the Power Settings and the Port Properties (advanced).

    Then again it may have one antenna that is not plugged in to the card, too. Or the card is not the same mfg as the router's AP. Some do not plat well with others.

    I agree with blue68f100, your wireless adapter might not be set for maximum transmitting power. What OS do you have?
