I am at college and my laptop has a wireless card that picks up the schools wireless internet. However , my desktop doesn't have a piece of hardware that picks up wireless internet. Is there a way that i can connect my laptop to my desktop so the desktop gets the internet that the laptop is picking up? I have a cable that plugs into the wall and then into the back of a computer (i think they are rj-45 connectors but im not sure) is there a way to plug one of them into my laptop and the other into the back of my desktop and change some settings so that the desktop gets internet?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you in a dorm? If so there is a good chance that you can plug the desktop directly into the wall to get the campus internet. Talk to your RA or campus tech people if you have trouble.

I think it will work to share your laptop's internet connection, but it would probably be much easier and cost less to just get a wireless USB adapter for your desktop. You can pick one up for about $15 on Amazon.

Just set up a proxy--this can be done.

If you don't know how to set up a proxy, google it up. It's not too hard :D.
