I wondering if anyone can give me some advice on a problem with the wireless connection on one particular laptop in our house? I have a PC directly connection to the modem and two other laptops that connect using wi-fi which are fine and have no problems. However one laptop will constantly lose its connection and the wi-fi needs to be reset which is very annoying. Is there anything that i can do to stop this? Thanks

the wifi needs to be reset?? at the router? the laptop?

What OS on the laptop? What router?

is it going into sleep mode and powering off the adapter? have you checked the power settings on the card?

give us a little more information-- thanks!

Signal strength varies, fluctuates quite often, but not on the other two laptops even when used in same room.

The wi-fi usually needs to be reset by turning off and rebooting. The router is Linksy 2.4ghz and the OS for the laptop is Vista i believe. The laptop doesnt go into sleep mode it usually happens when its being used. The signal strength is always going up and down but it doesnt seem to affect the other two laptops we have.
Not checked power settings, would these be under wi-fi device manger on th laptop?
    Thanks for your help

Once in the adapter window and the advanced tab, check the Transmit Power, it need to be set to maximum, also make sure that you have the appropriate setting in the Wireless Mode.

I found changing the channel works as well. The neighbors were on the same channel. Vista has a nice widget on the sidebar that shows that info...cheers!!!!
