I have a desktop with a wirless router hooked up to it. I also have a notebook that i use elswhere in my home. I was wondering if upgrading my desktop's internet connection speed would make my notebook's interent connection speed faster as well.

    any help is appreciated, thanks!

How are you planning to upgrade the internet connection? Get better hardware? Or get a better service? If you're planning to get better hardware, you may or may not see any improvements, simply because that is as much as your ISP is going to give you. But if you decided to go from (for example) dial up to an optical service, you will notice a huge amount of increase.

my cable service provider has a 3mb and 5mb option. Im upgrading to the 5mb from my previous 3mb. So, i was wondering if just my desktop which is hardwired to the cable modem will only get faster or if my wireless internet will get faster as well.

Both will be faster if you upgrade to 5mb option. Unless for some reason your wireless transfers at like 1mbps or something horribly low.

But since defaults are like 54mbps or 108mbps or even higher, you're gonna be just fine. :)
