    is my internal ethernet card bust?

    I run a toshiba sattellite laptop with a wired internet connection..The internet drops out every 10 minutes or so then recovers 10 minutes later.cable is ok and other users off the same router are ok.Can I use an external device to bypass the internal card..if so which device is reccommended.any thoughts gratefully received by this newbie dumbkoff!!

    Start with an easy solution- update your drivers and make sure that all power management settings for Ethernet card are disabled (Windows can't disable it to save energy and "advanced" tab of the card in question available via device manager has no power-saving features enabled).

    Also make sure that the socket is clean and that pins are not bent and change the cable if you haven't done so. Sometimes the cable or connector is barely damaged and it works with one device but not with another one.
