i don't know what happened i don't know if i did something wrong but i cannot connect the internet to certian programs that i have updated or just installed. for example firefox was working fine but then it updated itself it wouldn't connect   .any new programs i've installed i cannot connect either. i hate using ie7. please help.
i mean i really hate ie7 :mad2: . also google chrome doesn't connect either.it's not the actual internet connection(i just changed to uverse and the computer already had this problem so it's not the internet) because ie7 is connecting and any other programs(like utorrent), also it's not the firewall because it's off, i think it's my computer but i'm not sure.

What were you doing when you started having this problem? Did you install something? Did you download something (if you use torrents, it might be something you unwittingly downloaded)?

Do a complete virus and malware scan.

That might be an option later, but I think it's a bit premature to do a system restore at this point.

So, what were you doing when this started happening? Have you tried creating a new user to see if the problem is common to all users?

its either router set up or antivirus or windows ports being blocked.

yeah i did create a new user. i don't know what i was doing i think it has something to do with the computer. also please continue to make suggestions if i don't reply i just have to go somewhere for an hour or so.it's not the firewall, i got a new router(came with uverse) and it doesn't look like it's the antivirus

Click on the report post icon, and ask the moderator to change the title.

You read this already? And try to delete all firefox entries in your firewall first, then try to use firefox and set up new config in your firewall.

Yeah well the article about firefox is the same for pretty much any program. When you're upgrading a software often you get a new .exe which has different size and stuff and for the firewall it's like a new software so the old rules don't apply, you gotta set new ones. What is your firewall by the way?
