Hi. I am generally ok with a computer but not when something goes wrong or with technical jargon so this could be a relatively easy problem (fingers crossed and apologies if it is simple and if my lack of knowledge annoys anyone).
I have an old laptop (4years old Dell) and have wireless broadband- the broadband comes from the home pc and i have a white router (?) which allows me to work on my laptop with the help of a little stick. My home computers internet is fine, my brothers laptop is fine which works from the same router (so dont think router is problem)
When i plug in the stick to my laptop internet connection is good, Msn messenger logs on and tells me how many emails i have but when i try to view these or anyother page i cant. What comes up is Internet explorer cannot display the page. When i try and click on the bit on the bottom the says diagnose connection problems it says "Internet explorer script error""Error: not implemented". I had no virus protection on it for a little while and am now trying to install norton to see is there a virus in the computer but i cant install it as it needs internet connection.

Please help as i use the internet a lot for study and this is driving me banana's. Hopefully i will be able to answer any questions you might have.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Ruthie.
Also just remembered that recently when someone is on the phone we cant access the internet - not sure if this is something to do with it but thought it might help

try grabbing a copy of Firefox to see if it's an IE issue (it sounds like you have some type of security measure turned on in IE that restricts scripts from executing in the browser). i don't use IE so i can't tell you what steps to take to turn such a security feature off, but that would be the first place i would look.

try firefox.com. Make sure you have the latest java. Delete all temp files from windows. You may be caching a page that is corrupted.

Norton will mess up more than what it fixes.

Do you know anyone with Internet access? Try to get them to download it for you. If not, go to local library. Most of them have internet access now.
    Good luck.

    Follow these steps:

Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Click Delete -> Delete All -> Delete all offline content

(This is assuming you're control panel is set to classic view, to do so when you open control panel select classic view on the upper left hand window.)

This has worked for me in the past, no guarentees. If it does work however I strongly suggest that you download Firefox as suggested above or you could check into IE7. I have it and I love it but it does require SP2. Firefox will be your best bet.

    Goodluck,
    -Taylor

I am not sure where you are located at but if you can buy (or get ahold of) any PC related magazines eg. PC World or CHIP (there are plenty of others) which have a free CD or DVD with them.

Almost all of these CD/DVD's, from these magazines, have any one or most of the Internet Browsers eg. firefox or Opera or even Internet Explorer.

Infact you can even borrow an old CD/DVD (of these tech magazines) from any of your friends and install it on to your system.

If you are located in a place where it is difficlut to get such a magazine(s) than you will have to go to a cybercafe (or a friend with an itnernet connection) and download firefox (from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?from=getfirefox) and save it into a usb stick or a cd and you can install that saved exe file onto your system.

Since the other computers are working, you can use them to d/l firefox onto a usb drive and install on your computer. If this still doesnt work, try to un-install your usb wireless card (this is what you are using, right?) Then reinstall just the driver, not the utility. Let windows manage it. GL
