I have a new toshiba sattelite pro L100 notebook with an intel 3945abg wireless network card.

I can see the wireless network but cannot connect. I've checked the wpa key several times and even disabled the security on my wireless router.

I have an identical notebook which connects without hassel.

I've had the wireless network card replaced twice.

I've taken the notebook to my local internet cafe and connected to there unsecure network but as soon as we setup a secure network, nothing.

I've updated the network card drivers and still nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a problem between your Model router and that model NIC - Have seen the WPA/WEP security problem before - Unsecure, connects perfect, Lock it down with WEP/WPA, no connection even with static IP -
Best suggestion is to leave it unsecured and setup MAC filtering for some security, and dont broadcast your SSID, so the only people that can connect are those that KNOW the network name, and only the laptops that have added into the router -

Have you tried cold booting router first then pc to see if it will connect. I prefer removing the connection/location. Then reconnect to but this time pasteing the security key.

Add in a fw rule to allow the subnet you are working in. And yes any FW can block connections and run you nuts. I use comodo all the time. You can always drop it out for a quick test.

it was comodo actually. DARN IT! I disintalled it. Then tried zona alarm. it slows down the connection. I am not using any firewall. I am behind a router so.

ZoneAlarm uses 2 -3 time the resources as Comodo. If you reinstall with your wireless active it should set a rule for it to work. You can add a trusted zone using the wizard. If you do it manually make sure it is in the correct order, by def it is at the bottom of the list. It needs to be above the Block & Log rule. FW rules are processed in the older listed.

You have to setup wireless for each location. It's quite common to have more than 10+ locations. If each SSID is different you will have no problems. But if you have several the same, you may need to do a manual setup.

I have the same problem. My hp dv2000 with intel 3945abg can see wireless network set on DWL-900AP+ (D-Link) but cannot connect. On other notebook toshiba with 2200bg i also have same problem - i can't see any wireless network set on DWL-900AP+.

Where is the problem? Maybe this DWL isn't compatible with 3945 (i have the latest driver for intel card) ?

If you using Vista it's the problem the way MS setup the security and new network drivers. If you can see and connect to the wireless when in the clear, it a vista security issue. Setup WPA on the router, select your wireless port and disable IP6 and make sure IP4 is active. Then try adding a connection through ports CP/ wireless networks. If Norton is installed un-install it you will thank your self later. If ZoneAlarm, disable for now, Make sure MS Security is turned off. You can add security after you get it working. Only add one at a time, so you will know which one is blocking the connection.

My problem is under Windows XP :( In Vista i can also see network AP set on DWL-900AP+ but cannot connect - the same problem just like on windows xp.

I disabled firewall and security on windows xp (i also try on vista) and connection problems also exist.

Are you using Intel's CP or MS Zero Config? Use MS, less over head.

Under your wireless network connections remove the AP(location) you are trying to connect to. Connect to the AP via wired and temp drop off the security, run OPEN, SSID Broadcasted. This AP is B only, so you will need WEP security. Reboot the router, once up reboot your NB. Now see if you can connect, with FW off & Security Off. If not we need to look at other issues. If you do connect connect via wired to the router add WEP security to the router then try to connect. This is required to have a hex code key, and it must fill the field out. I prefer you do all of the setup with your NB. This way you can cut & paste the security key, with no chance of miss typing it.

Ok. I resolve connection problem in DWL900AP+.

    For others:

in d-link setup go to advanced > pefromance and set TX Rates to 1-2.5-5-11 (Mbps). That's all
