    That model is about 12 years old and has a mini pcie slot for the Wi-Fi.
    The mini PCIe AC7260 "might" work and you won't need to change antenna wires and more.
    There are USB Wi-Fi adapters that can possibly give you some measure of better connection speed but....
    Best Wi-Fi with what you have now is achieved when your notebook is in line of sight with the router and about 6' away.
    IMO,you should keep what you have until it's time to upgrade your notebook.

    I have a bunch of newer notebooks, This essentially is my play device. I am typing on it now and it's great. But speedtest results are not great compared to my new dells. yes, this rig is 14 years old now, and still rocks. So, the AC7260 would be an upgrade?

    My MSI GS60 2PC notebook is a mere 6.5 years old but it is NGFF M.2.I've updated my wireless card several times to the present Killer AX1650 that regularly gets a data rate of 2,402 Mbps
    Today it will see another update to an Intel 6E AX210NGW along with some new antenna wires as the post office just delivered them from China.

    I am updating my 3 other notebooks wifi cards too. Whatever the best card is that will fit in them is what I will be using.

    @kojack here's your card, then.

    EDIT: oops, saw the date just now. \= I guess I won't remove my post, since it may be helpful for other users with the same question.

    No, that's fine. I still haven't ordered one yet. That will speed up connections on the old beast?

    @kojack it's a bootleg AX200 (m.2 1216 module soldered on a minipcie adapter board), as good as it gets among minipcie wi-fi cards at the moment. You can get AX210 using an adapter and either antenna adapters, or replacing the antennas MHF4 - but it's messy, may not fit height-wise, and pointless unless you've got a Wi-Fi 6E router - since AX210 performs pretty much the same as AX200 on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies. AX200 and AX210 are hands down the best wi-fi cards at the moment, the only ones worth any attention.
