i have a lenovo ideapad y510p , when i sit next to the router , i get a 5 bar stable signal with no interruption but when i go to my room i get an unstable connection some times 5 bars and then descends to 4 or 2 then disconnects and reconnects and so on , i also noticed that this happens especially when streaming videos or downloading . i heard it may be a bad card issue and i should return it . do you have any solution to this problem or should i return it :( ?

The problem is probably not the notebook, only the wireless card's poor range performance quality.

    Have you tried driver 16.10.0.5
    Station-Drivers - Intel Proset/Wireless Wifi Software Version 16.10.0.5

Make sure your router is set to WPA2 AES and WMM is enabled in QoS setup

Have you used inSSIDer to find the best channel.

With inSSIDer running carry your notebook around your location to find dead spots and best locations.
    inSSIDer 3.1.2.1 Download - TechSpot

In the wirelees card Advanced properties try selecting 20mhz only for 2.4ghz band channel width

    Which router are you using?

    You're using WPA/WPA2;try changing to just WPA2-PSK(AES)alone

Your connection strength at the notebook's location is -64 which is not all that good but still not really bad.

In inSSIDer look at the channels being used by all the 2.4ghz networks showing and pick a channel between 1 an 11 that's not being used or least used and change your router setting to that channel.

You are presently on 11.Try 5 or 7 if they're free.

I use a dual band wireless card and always on the 5ghz band where I get good results 15' from my router going through 2 cement walls. My inSSIDer connection strength is -42

Normally the further you go from the router and the more walls and floors the signal goes through the worse your connection will be.

Maybe you should try a different wireless card like a Killer 1202.

Check in the Lenovo forums if others with your model notebook have the issues and which wireless card they have better results with.
