I am upgrading to this Draft -n card from my dell mini wireless G card and i put in the new card and found the grey wire and as I connected it i put the black wire in the 1(left) slot, white wire in the 3 (middle) slot, and grey wire in the 2 (right)slot. So, I turned on the laptop and it would connect to my wireless router and everything, but when i go to the intel prowireless software it says the hardware isn't connected and it cant log anything because its not connected to a wireless network...

Am I doing something wrong here?

    Thanks.

Your connection is wrong, black in 1, Gray in 3 (middle) and white in 2.

FWIW, I recently upgraded my Vostro 1400 from its original 3945ABG to a 4965AGN, and I had the same question. The 3945ABG numbered its two antenna connectors as black (2) at the top (toward the display) and white (1) at the bottom (towards the front). The 4965AGN's 1 and 2 were in the same positions, so I went with the opposite of your picture, with black in 2 and white in 1. Gray went in the middle, of course. How do we know which is right, or if it matters?
