    intel 3945 mini card change?

    i have 3945abg wireless mini card. can i take it out and put other brand mini card in? if so, wich is the best mini card out there right now?

    You can replace the mini-pci cards within. But the cards basicly come in 2 sizes. And some cards locate the antenna leads at a different location. So depending on the card the leads may or may not reach. You will need to know if drivers are available too.

    It's a lot simpler but not as convient as using a cardbus adapter. Some mfg bury the card requiring a service tech to do the install. My nb has a door that grants me access to wlan and ram.

    As for as brand, Generally you will get better performance if you match your routers chip set.

    ...it's not really necessary for a tech to do the job...if it has screws people can do it themselves. It is not rocket science to take out some screws remove a few components that are modular then put it all back together. but always download your system's manual before starting...HP & Dell are great about service manuals.

    But yeah, if you are not comfy with touching the inside of your system OR if it is still under warranty make certain you know what you are doing before making any internal changes.
