i just installed a new office jet printer (old one did not do this) with the new drivers. now every time the system goes to sleep it awakes with a load of select certificate messages relating to the hp imaging software?? but the box is blkank so there is nothing to select. i have uninstalled reinstalled etc made sure drivers were curent gav it full permissions and limited permissions and just about every other thing i can think of. hp tech support is useless.. any thoiughts??

Post a screen shot of the certificate messages. Also are you using Vista?

Which printer did you install? What version of Vista are you using?

hp l7680 and vista 32 ultimate this same printer is networked to 4 other computers in the same office and this is the only one that does this though the other 3 are running vista premium not sure it makes a difference though. also its installed without the usb cable and through a ethernet cable into the router which is why i posted in the networking section so its a shared network printer but as i said this one system is the only one to give me this error ive uninstalled 3 times now. and am using the current drivers from hp's site also

custom built. dfi x48 mobo, corsair 4gb ram, e8600, dual 4870x2's, 2 1tb and 2 500gb hdd's, 4 dvd drives etc etc...i build systems ALL THE TIME for customers and i have installed this same printer tons of times and i have never seen this error before...

also it happens only after the system is idle or after i wake it up from sleep and there will be like 2-20 of the same boxes open behind each other i can close them all and i dont ever get the message during use of the system only when left idle or waking uo is when i see it. i got no response from microsoft they simply said ti reinstall the drivers. and hp was useless they dont even know what im trying to explain to them. all the searches online simply yielded the same answer as ms to reinstall the driver or wait for a update from hp. but why it only does it with ultimate and this one system im not sure

to add. i reinstalled temporarily as a usb connection to this system and i dont have the issue. i uinstalled it and reinstalled as a network connected printer and now the error comes back. this is driving me nuts the printer is connected to a linksys wireless router and used by the whole office and they bought this one up from the 7580 model becuse of the added networking features. so i cant leave it connected via usb or they have to move it into one office which they dont want to do. the owner of the business has this system i built and doesnt want people in his office when he is not there so it need to be out in the open.

Are there any services or applications running the background that might be interfering with the HP drivers? Have you tried disabling services or uninstalling applications? Have you looked at the NIC drivers and updated them? Same question for the BIOS - any updates available?

Is reinstalling the operating system an option?

already tried reinstall of the os. this is a fresh vista install. all drivers are current. disabled anything running except what it from vista. also tred on a clean install as i said with not another singlething installed but the sytem drivers of course the ati driver and the hp software.

also if i install just the driver and use i as a networked printer it works fine.but they also use the fax and scanning options so i have to do a full intall of the hpo software minu all the junk o course like the ink monitor and hp feedback stuff. when i install the full software is when i see the message

Also, is the network in question a proper domain, or one of those frankensteins called a "workgroup"?

Ok. Now, again I'm just taking wild shots in the dark, but is it possible that there is something screwy with the network authentication for the system that's getting the blank certificate windows? Maybe something having to do with the system going to sleep or remaining idle - for example, is the option to allow the system to power down the wireless NIC enabled, which might be causing the system to disengage from the network and present some buggy authentication issues?
