received a Dell studio 15 for xmas and have a wireless question. I'm running vista on both my desktop and laptop, I'm quite new to the operating system. Managed to get the wireless connection set up with no problems but I have no idea how to go about accessing/transfering files wirelessly between the 2 systems. How do you go about setting this up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Option 1: USB flask drive/External Hard drives.
    Most expensive option. But best.

    Option 2: Floppies/CD's/DVD's
Moderately expensive depending on what type you buy and how many. Its a moderately good option.

Option 3: There is also a online option where you create servers and transfer files through there. Ive never tried it so I wouldnt really know.

I personally use a External Harddrive. They are pretty good.

Set up a home network and transfer the files that way. While you are at it setup your laptop to print at your desktops printer.

You forgot option four: home networking.

That is kind of long, but after following the steps and directions you should be able to share files.

If both the Desktop and laptop are on the same wireless router then to share do this on both systems: Goto -control panel-Network and sharing centre and turn network discovery and file-sharing on. Make sure that both are setup as home (private network) and not public.

Then simply goto my computer and right-click the drive you want to share and select -share/advanced sharing- tick share this folder.
Then all you need to do is map a network drive in - my computer -to the drive you have just shared.
You will need to type in the username and password of the computer your connecting to if it is not the same as the one your using.

I think what is happening is that you can't have multiple "C:" drives in one computer, so when you open explorer in the first computer, it has its own C: drive, so when it is looking at the C: drive in the second computer it has to refer to it as some other letter than C:, meaning that C: in the second computer might appear as E: in the first computer. Then you go to the first computer and copy your files from E: to C:.

Did you (right click - share - advanced sharing - share this folder), on the C: drive of the computer you want to map?

The "C" drive cannot be shared, but you can access root if you use C$ instead of C:

    \\testnetwork\mycomputer\C$
