i have this wireless usb adapter (edup) and i badly need help creating an access point. how can i? :(
i have come across articles for using it as ad-hoc, but i need to create an access point. can somebody help please?
basically, i'm going to use the AP to connect my 'psp' to internet. as in, creating a bridge between my lan and this adapter and using internet sharing to use net on my psp. but i can't figure out the AP thingy. please help.

Turn on ICS to share your connection, then set the wireless in bridge mode. Then you can share your connection from your desktop. Provided that it is connected via wired. You can not use the same port and share it.

^ thank you for your reply.
it means i should be using net through my LAN card (dsl or cable net) and set ICS on it (as i tried bridging my dial up modem and usb adapter and it didn't work). and bridge it with my wireless usb adapter. i got this point, but what settings do i need to create/config in the properties of the wireless adapter?

YOu have to have a established connection on the pc. Start the ICS service, Then select the port to share (wireless in your case if you have a wired connection to your pc). If your not using a router it would be easier, then the PS would connect directly to it and your pc would not have to be on.

    Hi,
Im solving the same problem but it as Im relatively noob in this its not so clear for me from the previous explanations (or something is working weird in Vistas).

Heres what I did: (perhaps somebody can give me more detailed advice)

I have HP Compaq notebook (with LAN port and buid-in Wifi) and Vista OS (not my choice)

    In office I have:
[ADSL modem] --connected to-- [switch] --connected to-- [notebook LAN port]

The notebook is connected to LAN via fixed IP adress.
The ADSL works as router (separating the ofice lan from ISP ..think..?).
Works fine so far. The notebook has internet connection via the ADSL.

Now I would like to set the notebook Wifi to act as AP to connect iPhone to it
so iPhone can share the internet connection.
And here Im totaly lost what IP adresses to set where and what to enable on which network device etc.

(Yes I tryed to google this, search MS DB etc. but didnt find a clear answer or tutorial)

I'll be glad for any advice.

Go under the network sharing center. Click setup a home edit (wireless) network. It should detect your LAN port as the internet connection and then send you off your way to setup your wireless card as an AP.

I'll test as soon as I'll get back to our Vista notebook.

Sorry for being anoying but can you also give me an idea about how to do it in XP ?
