    how do I Speed-up file browsing?

    Hi all.
    I have a NAS which I use as my Media Server , I got like 1000 directories in the same Folder , while browsing in that directory from my Laptop I get like a 3-sec loading time , this doesn't happen if I browse directly from the NAS.

    is their a known way of improving the browse speed on files/directories over network?

    installed that , and indexed the shared drive.. still the same lag.
    well I guess i'll have to live with it , anyway if any1 knows of a remedy i'll be happy to hear.

    btw i'm using Vista x64 on the laptop , and XP pro on the NAS , both NTFS formatted.

    is it laggy every time you try it, or just the first time (i.e. for me, it takes even half a minute to map a drive for the first time in the day i open my computer, whenever i bring my laptop back to work...but afterwards it works fast, just as the local drive does)

    it was laggy every time I tried it , like w/o the update.
    i'm thinking about categorizing my movies section , but trying to avoid it as much as i can
