    my emoployer has me working in California and I am connecting to the internet via the hotels wifi...

    What can be done to secure my laptop from internet intruders?

    If you haven't already, get a good firewall like Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm Pro (I'm not a big fan of the free version), Pc-cillin, etc. Always have your firewall running, and it should protect you from most intruders.

    I would also try to find a hotel that has a secured network and requires a password to sign on so that only hotel guests may use the network. I know there are several hotel chains that do have WEP and SSID disable, but it might take a bit of searching. Most of the hotels that I have been to, do not have WEP and enable SSID so that anyone who is picking up the signal can connect.

    Yes, i agree, try also using Firefox just so you cant get spyware, etc. :)
