will use for desktop and laptop I'm using bellsouth now it's showing 2 network connection on my windows control panel

one is 1394 connection showing 'connected' 400Mbps But I don't think this really connected

and another one is Local area connection I think this is really connected one showing 100Mbps.

I ordered sony s-580 model has a wireless lan card Wireless LAN (802.11b\g) and Bluetooth Technology.

What should I buy for router??
Looking for netgear products between WGR614, WGT624, WPN824 which one would be the best??

I liked WPN824 cause lights seems so cool.
WGR614 is cheap but up to 54Mbps
WGT624 is up to 108Mbps but look little bit decent on design.
    WPN824 looks cool but it's so expensive($99.99)

which one should I get I guess i'm gonna get WGR614 or WGT624 but I heard 624 has some problems.

and Could you tell me how can I connect to Internet with 1394 connection(showing above)? It's showing 400Mbps connected on control panel but that connection showing 0 sent 0 received, So I guess it's not really connected.

Well the 614 and 824 look good. But a router is a router. You need to disable that 1934 connection and you need to enable the wireless connection when you get the router. Check my guides too for a lot of info.

I have the 624 and love it, but you have an Intel card in that machine I think, so it won't be able to use the Suger G, which is what gets you to 108 Mps.

I have the WPN824. Works great with my 2200BG card. You'll have to get the MIMO card to get the extended range benefits at least according to NetGear.

May I suggest the Belkin Pre-N Wireless Router? I just got it and it's great, even without the Pre-N PC-card for your laptop...as most of the reviews have stated, it increases signal strength and range even for 802.11b/g connections...then later on you can always bump it up a notch and get the Pre-N card for your laptop.

Setup is a synch...the unit itself looks pretty sleak and nice...price is a bit steap though...also it's kinda hard to find one in store, but probably easier online.

I had one problem when I got mine...it had an older/faulty firmware, which was remedied quickly with a firmware update and all was well.

    Cheers,
    Mike

shampoo, how much of a range increase did you notice with the Belkin Pre-N router? theres been alot of talk about it but not sure if it works just as good w/o the Pre-N card. we bought one a few weeks ago and decided to return it b/c wasnt sure if it was worth it. we didnt even open it and try it. now im reconsidering.

I just got the netgear 624 router from staples. They matched Futureshop's price of 89.99, plus a 50 dollar mail in rebate, which they didn't have, so they took that off the price, and another 10% of the difference from their 119.99 to the 39.99, came to like 32 dollars. Worth the price for sure. Nice router, but you won't get to use the XR or the 108, as you've got an Intel Wireless Card. Shop around, you'll find awesome deals. Don't pay the Super G, 108 stuff any mind, from any company, as using the built-in WIFI card won't take advantage of any of it. 54 is still really good. :)
