I like my TrendNet. Paid $10- for it after a $30 rebate last month. Spent the rebate on a high-gain antenna. Total investment for the router and high-gain antenna was $43 including tax.

The router is upstairs at one end of the house and I get 'four bars' of signal in the basement at the other end of the house.

I would think that any brand-name WAP will do a good job. If you need more 'oomph' in your specific situation, get an add-on high-gain antenna.

Alternatively, you could get multiple WAPs and place them in various places in the house.
