i havent tried this yet and was at university the other day and tried to get on their wireless network and i couldnt do it.
i could see the network but i couldnt logon. it gave me two messages.
the first was when i used windows to find the network it told me that i needed a pin to login.

the other ibm network finder told me that the signal was too weak.

maybe i am doing something wrong or something isent turned on?

is there a good program out there to find and login to networks?
    thanks
    eric

You likely found a network secured by WEP. In that case you need a password to access it.

Yes, the wireless networks at universitys are set up with some kind of encryption, probably with the LEAP protocol. I suggest going to the computer help desk on your campus. they will help you get up and running.

You can also, probably find some information about it on your schools internet page, I know on mine we set it up so there are instructions on how to set it up yourself online.
