Hello. I've recently moved into a new apartment which does not have any wifi or wireless internet of any sort so I'm using an Ethernet cable to directly connect into an outlet in the wall. The internet is fine for a while but then it won't load any web pages. It says its connected, i can play starcraft 2 online fine without any interuption its just the web pages. I have to keep unplugging and plugging my ethernet back into my laptop. I googled some things and tried turning off my mcafee firewall and now no problems at all. So how can i keep my firewall up and still browse the internet?

Uninstall McAfee, enable Windows firewall, and find out where the heck the internet connection is coming from. If you don't know what the outlet connects to, treat it like a public wifi hotspot and avoid sending any and all sensitive info over that connection.

Just use something else, like AVG. McAfee is quite good about slowing things down and getting in the way while doing its thing.

Webroot is a very mediocre anti-spyware/virus/firewall/company. Use AVG, Avast, or Microsoft Security Essentials instead with Windows Firewall. For your browser, use Web of Trust. (that is what I would do).

Maybe your web browser is set to a proxy?
On Firefox: Options->Advanced tab->Network tab->Setings-> choose no proxy.
Should be similar for Internet Explorer.

Or it could be a conflicting add-on. Look through them and disable any unnecessary one.

Or it could be a virus.

    Just my knowledge.
