is there a way i can enter a site into the url bar and have it open in a new tab rather than changing the window? i like to be in a lot of sites at the same time but i hate having like 6 windows all jumbled at the bottom of my screen.

After typing the url, press Alt + Enter. That should work.

    Alt-Enter is useful. So are:
Ctrl-Enter (automatically puts "http://www." and ".com" around what you typed, so instead of typing a full URL just put in e.g. "cnn" and press Ctrl-Enter to fill out the rest).
Shift-Enter - same as ctrl-enter, but with .net instead of .com
    Ctrl-Shift-Enter - similar, for .org

There's also Ctrl-T which will open a blank tab, after which you can type the site directly into the address bar.

Also, the middle mouse button is invaluable for tabbed browsing: middle-click on any link to open it in a new tab, or middle-click on an open tab to close it.
