    Ethernet cords? They're basically the same. What you need depends on the length you need.

    You do have different Ethernet cables or CAT-X;

    CAT-5 is rated to 100M
    CAT-5e is rated to 350M
    CAT-6 and CAT6e is rated to 550M or 1000M depending on your source
    CAT-7 is supposedly rated to 700M or presumably 1000M

    You most likely need a CAT-5.

    yes both above are right...and variations on all the above...depending on how you are planning your cable run...for outdoor and through the house for runs with lateral and horizontal layouts...i use shielded cat5e...

    I agree, cat5e is a good choice to meet future use.

    Don't get a real cheap one. Crappy ones can give you bad latency (so i've heard)

    what kind of cabling are you interested in...just a short piece from modem to router...or a longer run...say from wired router to WAP...for longer fixed runs solid copper carries a better signal than braided...but for short runs where the cable is subject to be flexed a lot...such as plugging in a laptop...then braided has more flexability and less likely to break due to frequent bending of the cable....

    Ethernet cable will be faster and more secure than wireless, for the moment.

    if that's all you need go to the local wal-mart...target...bestbuy...or whatever kind of store nearby and buy a length of Cat5e...will already have the keystone connections on it...usually comes in lengths of 15, 25, and 50 feet...or you can plan ahead and order online...try not to buy to much...as rolling up excess cable can cause transmission problems...i've never noticed a problem with this...but this is what textbooks say...
