I'm not sure if this has been covered yet but recently my dv6775 has been dropping its connection to the Internet via DGL-4500 using draft N. For several months I have had no problems this seems to be a recent development. If I remember to check, I'll see if I still have local access next time the Internet drops.

The other thing that gets me so frustrated is it seems I need to restart the laptop to get back on line. After the drop my connections tab shows "no wireless networks available" though there are several. even turning off&on the wifi switch has no effect.

Did you change anything related to wireless before the trouble started? For example, did you change your ssid or connect to a different wireless network? When you restart your laptop, does it automatically connect to your wireless network or do you have to do something manually to connect?

I had a similar problem. Out of the blue my laptop started to disconnect from my Dlink DIR655 router. I didn’t have to reboot to reconnect so it might be a different issue. I’m not a networking expert but I was able to figure out the problem by poking around the wireless settings in the Network and Sharing Center. If you’re comfortable doing that then you might be able to find the problem. Anyway, I determined that I messed up my wireless network settings by changing my SSID to a new name and then back to the original name. For some reason Vista created duplicate entries for the SSIDs.

Now I too have noticed this now that you brought it up. I have seen My network name with numbers added to the end XXXXXX1, XXXXXX12, XXXXXXX123, XXXXXX234 etc. I do have my access point set to invisible so maybe this is causing the problem.
