i have bought 2 dsl modems within two years, so just when the warranty ends the modem breaks. So i am tired of buying modems does any one know of a good one to buy that doesn't go bad as fast or just a good company. the first one was made by some off company so i can understand but the second one was made by Motorola... hell the one i am using now is the first one i ever got and that was about 10 years ago....

I've got a heap of modems even my original Dlink 502T and none have died yet.

But now I'm using a linksys AM300, really good modem
I bought for 1/2 bridge mode and better yet in this mode the web config page is still available (most modems need a factory reset to change any settings)
No issues really since I've had it, you can pick it up cheap.

I am using MOTOROLA SURFboard SB5101 38Mbps Downstream, 30Mbps Upstream USB and Ethernet 10/100Base-T Cable Modem .

i have owned this for 3 years now not a hiccup yet. it did start off on the slow side then i found an article about inline amplifiers and how they affect this modem. motorola recommends you NOT connect through a signal amplifier, due to line noise. my setup goes a little like this. rg6 quadshield 3.5ghz by belkin with msgr cable, balun rated. from cable drop to modem is max 100ft. from modem to router is fiberoptic with speeds very near modems limits(minus router) around 30-37mbps avg dwn and 3-4 up. i had added a dedicated no amp straight feed off the pole. the tv's run through amp, modem does NOT.

Yep, just like jimmy03, i have a Moto modem and Ive been using it for over 10 years! Nothing has gone wrong with it, surprisingly! I've never seen a DSL modem made by moto though? But then again, i had DSL for about 6 months before i started hating it! Ever since i went with comcast. They are decent but evil in their ways. I'm looking forward in getting Fiber Optics soon!! WAHOOO!!! :)
