    1. Are you running Intel's latest drivers?

    2. Have you checked out Microsoft's list of patches for Vista for any which address wireless / internet performance issues?

yes intels most current. and my vista is completely up to date.. now just to be clear its not the connection to the router itself. that works fine. it my internet speeds. i have a 20/5 line and with the intel 4965 i only get about 7-10 and under 1mb up... sucks when im paying for so much more and even the cheapo atheros card in the wife's 350$ toshiba gets almost 19.5 or so.. i can get those all day on ebay for like 10$.. i hoped of much better things for this card. this sucks

Mine's fine (although I don't use it that much because I mostly use cabled ethernet) so not quite sure what your problem is...

i already know for sure its the intel adapter ... there is some kind of issue there im going on ebay to try to find a atheros. all of our toshiba's have them and they are flawless. this intel one sucks imo

ive removed the atheros and the intel and swapped them and al is fine after that.. i get full 20mb with the 5791.

What router are you using? Some cards play better with certain routers.

Adjusting the RWIN (receive window) for the wireless adapter can make big changes in bandwidth. I have a 5MB internet connection that without increasing the RWIN I'm lucky to get 1 or 2MB over the wireless. But increase the RWIN and I get the full 5MB. There are small tweak tools to do it and it can be done manually in the registry. Google will give you lots of info. There is a simple tool available through dslreports.com's tools section called TCP Doctor, if I remember right. It's tiny. Dslreports.com's FAQ in the tweaking section will have info as well.

    Good luck.

Vista does a great job of adjusting the RWIN values. It is "self tuning" the problem is somewhere else than the OS in this case.
