I have an Intel 7260 from 2013, biggest disappoint of an optional upgrade ever.

When it was new, it would have trouble connecting in public areas where Broadcom chips can maintain steady connections. Even when side by side at the same table.

Now, it drops connections from a router on the other side of a wall, less than 5 feet away. Even my phones maintain better connections. That area of my laptop does get pretty hot so I'm not sure if heat is a problem.

For now, I got an external wifi card but very disappointed with Intel. Anyone else experience this? Good experiences with other brands? Broadcom seems to be the most consistent, anecdotally.

@Baconfat did you try different driver versions, and setting channel width to 20MHz for 2.4Ghz?

Did try 20Mhz setting width, left it at newest drivers, no difference. You didn't have probs with Intel wifi cards?

@Baconfat I had a lot of different problems with them, 7260 AC in particular - but never what you describe. \=

Have you checked the antenna connections?

Have you tried using a live USB to rule out drivers?

Or maybe your card is defective.

Had the same problem with my 7260, bought a new 7265 and all the problems went away. I think there was something wrong with my 7260 card, it worked fine for 3 years tho.
