Hey I know this is something that is on there end but here it goes.

D2D is having the $5 sale on games going on. I got STALKER and the download finished within a few hours, ..constant high DL speeds.

Now for over a week I have been trying to download Drakensang. The problem is once the download reaches just over 1gig it starts having problems.

One thing it does is it constantly puts me back in line for ten minutes every five minutes,

When this doesnt happen the speed of the download starts to climb for like five seconds hits a still slow 100kb/s and then drops to 0 then idles for 10 seconds. So the download gets stuck essentially at 1.07gig out of 7gig and I leave it there for days and it goes no where. I have tried everything the site suggested,

I got rid of their download manager and tried my own..I tried using firefox built in manager like they suggested and even the enhanced firefox one. They all do the same thing.

Im guessing its some sort of server error because this only happens with this one game and only once the download hits about 1gig. Before it reaches this mark the download is going smooth,

I sent them complaints and everything through there site and all they did was email me back some suggestions that were already on their site.

I known that this is their problem and there might be nothing anyone can do to help me but I am getting desperate lol. Its been two weeks now since I purchased this game and I have still been unable to play it : (

Thanks sorry for all the writtings

The problem likely isn't in their server, but your own network setup.

All processes on your system compete for Router access at any given time. If your system has any Auto-Updates turned on, Virus programs running, anything that is set to access the 'net at any given time when you're connected, it can interrupt your download (especially if it's a big file and slow to download) if your browser (or system on a multi-system network) isn't set for Priority Access to your Router. Otherwise, your download is just one of many vying for access service from the Router, and since it's a big file, can be more easily interrupted by others the Router sees as more important. Most servers will detect your IP and restart the download at the point where the connection was interrupted, but if the interruption is long enough or the server has a high demand, it'll reset your place in line once the Router reconnects you. It doesn't take long either.

To alleviate this, you can set your browser / system up for Priority Router Access using Quality of Service (QoS) if your Router has it available as a feature in its CP (most newer ones do), which will give your browser head of the line access to your Router. I'd also shut down anything you have that has auto-updates if you're using them (which you shouldn't). QoS will let your browser have access over every other application vying for Router access, but that doesn't stop them from slowing down your connection either.

For Systems, use the MAC Address feature of QoS to give you priority. For applications like a browser, use the Application feature. Most QoS areas of Routers already have pre-programmed applications, games, etc. available for setup at the click of a mouse also.

Keep in mind too that a wireless phone base nearby can cause sufficient interference to drop your connection when a call comes in. I've seen support cases where phones have been ID'd as the culprit - one user actually ID'd his neighbor's phone when he realized his connection dropped every time his neighbor's phone rang.

Also, if you've got a weak signal to begin with, it seriously affects a long download. If you're using Vista, open the Network window and check the status of your connection to see the signal strength. Don't rely on the Windows icon in the Status Bar.

If you're using an N router with WPA2 security enabled, try disabling it for the duration of the download. N routers tend to be more susceptible to server drops when WPA2 is enabled, especially connected to game servers of any type. Regardless, it could be affecting your download regardless of Router type or standard.

Wow thats for such a detailed post : ) I have a somewhat old wireless router. I have great connection in my room. My download speeds are usually good but like you said its a big download and I have never downloaded anything 7gigs.

I do not know how to do anything you suggested "Priority Router Access using Quality of Service (QoS)"

    This is my router....

Westell Versalink Model 327w. Its the verizon DSL wireless router.

Thank you so much for the help.. I think I might be able to figure out QoS but if you can help more that would be great : )is it a program I download or what?
