So my router is set up for G+ speeds and my roomates' Dell inspiron and my macbook pro santa rosa connect at 54mbps while my other roommate connects at 108mbps with his toshiba, what can I do? it's the same for me in windows and mac os, so I know it's not mac os doing it. Is there any way to change the speed I connect at? Atheros wireless was supposed to be top notch but I can't get the speeds yet, I'm about to go out and get a new wireless n router to see if I can connect at N speeds if I can't find a solution for this.

    Any help would be great.

p.s. I can't get specific model numbers right now, but all firmware and software is up to date

Is your wireless card able to take advantage of the speed boost? If I'm thinking correctly the router and card have to have this feature to get the extra speed. You should beable to ckeck your wireless card operation setting in device manager.

I don't get it all. Is this the N router or just the Atheros 108 mode (that's not official Wi-Fi standard- just using two channels)?
If it's Atheros 108 than don't expect N card, normal G or even all Atheros to work at 108Mb/s.

Yea, most likely your card don't support that speed, that's why you're only connected to that speed. On the other hand, why are you so worried about it? You internet connection can't go faster than 54Mbps, so you're not losing anything. Unless you are playing multiplayer game with your roomates, you don't lose anything here.
