    Hi all,

I have a strange issue with my M18xR2 when I'm trying to use the wired lan only.

The situation basically only happens when I wake my comp from sleep -- I'll get a message saying that Windows has detected there is another PC on the network with the same IP address. (All addresses except 192.168.1.1 and 2.1 are assigned via dhcp.)

After this, it looks like the computer enters this cycle where it requests and is assigned a valid address, but then immediately forgets about the address and assigns itself something in the 169.254.xxx.xxx range.

Sometimes if I disable the wired nic and then re-enable, it will work okay. Sometimes if I just let it go while I do something else, it will sort itself out. As you can see, I'm basically just guessing at solutions. It seems, though, that if I enable the Killer wireless nic, then both nics successfully acquire addresses.

I *could* just leave the wireless enabled, but I figured I would disable it to force everything through the wired network and not deal with any potential wireless issues. I should point out that once I get an address and things stabilize, everything works flawlessly.

I'm running win7 x64, OS is up-to-date. I think the AR8151 driver is 2.0.8.8. It's not a gigantic issue, but I would kind of like to figure out what's going wrong and get it fixed. I'm open to the idea that it's possibly the router (ASUS RT-N66U) -- all wireless seems to have zero issues (3 tablets, bridged AP, wifi-enabled blu-ray player, wii), and (although I haven't mentioned my issue to anyone) I've gotten zero complaints about the other wired computer in the house.

Check out this driver for your Ethernet card it's 2.1.0.7 maybe that will change something.
If it doesn't help- it certainly won't hurt to use the most recent one.

So apparently the other wired computer in the was having problems, just nobody saw fit to mention it. I had also upgraded the atheros & bigfoot drivers to the latest and the issue persisted (now across two computers, not sure what nic is in the other), additionally with wireless as well. I updated the router's firmware and it still had issues, so I decided to flash it to tomato before I wrote it off as a hardware problem. Flash succeeded, and now I have a functioning router again.
