    i just purchased a dell inspiron 2200
it has the dell wireless 1450 dual band 802.11 a/b/g internal wireless.
i am very green at this
i know i need an intel pro wireless card 2200
with what i have read, i think i will go with linskys wrt54gx2 802.11 b/g router....

i have a desktop that willl stay plugged into the wall and printer\

what else do i need to be able to make my laptop totally wireless and also be able to send pages to the printer to be printed??

our homes are only 10 ft apart so security is an issue.

thank you so much for any help.

if your notebook has a wireless card, you don't need the intel wireless card. unless you're saying something else ?

share the printer from the desktop. browse to the printer from your laptop. add it. as long as your desktop is on, you will be able to print to it.

for security, your router's user manual should give you a simple walkthru on how to turn on your security settings.

    i purchased a linksys wrt54gs
i have a dell wireless wlan internal card
after spending 4 hours trying to hook up i gave up
it would hook up to my desktop correctly
but the laptop came up once and the internet was sooooo
slow. after that the internet never would come back up even after changing channels.

so i am back to searching for an easier router.
would you recommend dell since i have a dell wireless internal card?? if so which one and why.

    thank you
