I mean, public free wifi available in shopping mall, cafe etc
could I get hacked easily accessing those free wifi? Anything I can do to protect / or reduce the
likelihood of getting hacked when using public free wifi?
Is an iOS device more secure than an Android ?

It's not really that you can get hacked as such (the device you are using) but your data can be intercepted including anything that isn't encrypted like e-mail credentials (if not encrypted) and logins and passwords (sadly for this website as well).
There is an easy way to get around this problem - one that I'm pretty sure has been discussed with you a while back - VPN.
Also - it doesn't matter what device do you use - it's the unencrypted traffic that is the problem, not the device. -

I use Hotspot Shield Elite on all my Windows and Android devices.

How about "Private WiFi" ? which means for example WiFi set up at home and I am the only user?
And how about avoiding Public wifi? Using only mobile data on my SIM card? Is mobile data encrypted? -
@kenny1999 Assuming your home Wi-Fi has encryption enabled (WPA2 + AES) it's safe from third parties other than your ISP.
Same goes for mobile data - it is encrypted as it's part of the LTE standard, but your operator will have access do data anyway.
So as far as private third parties, both LTE and encrypted home Wi-Fi are safe. -
No defo not safe. Just get a data plan with unlimited data.

But I cannot accept random someone around with some simple hacking skills
to get into my data. That is ridiculous. -
As download says, you asked this before - you were already advised that public WiFi is not safe and that a VPN will help to protect you in such a situation.

As suggested before, a VPN would be a good idea.bennni likes this. -

Phoenix uses Hide.me. He says they're fast, and the company says they don't log anything, a claim I find somewhat dubious. They don't offer a Chrome browser extension, which I need to access certain websites from work that are blocked by the corporate firewall because I (obviously) can't install any sort of client software. I also wasn't impressed with my experience in their live support chat.
As such, I'll stick with VPN.ac. The service has been reliable and the support good when I've needed it.bennni likes this.
