There's a few things that you need before this can happen:

    1. Find out if you can connect to the schools network from external computer (remote access, firewall, etc...)

    2. Access to the folder where you saved your files (security rights)

In most cases, you need to ask the school's network admin to get all this info to get you access to the schools network from an external source.

Regarding RDP. Generally, it's remote access to a different computer.

Computer A at work can connect to Computer B at home. B will be able to control A like if you were actually sitting in front of Computer A.

All you need is the IP address of your computer (the one you want to access) and also have this feature enabled and an account added in your OS to access RDP. If you have DSL (non-static IP), you'll need to get the current IP address of your system to get access. Now if you have a router connected to that system, you'll need to forward ports to get access.
