I'm thinking about getting Comcast soon, but I am wondering is it a good choice to switch to it from DSL? I do a lot of p2p download (bittorrent) and have heard that Comcast is trying to limit that.

Haven't heard about limiting torrent but cable is definitely faster than DSL.

cable is faster correct. but with cable you are sharing the connection with everyone on that line so to speak. where as with dsl its all dedicated and you get that speed most of the time. Torrents on comcast are getting throttled atleast in my area. DSL can do the same thing. what are do you live in? I work for an ISP that is a bit smaller but we do not throttle any traffic

yeah, i read an article in a magazine that comcast does try to block p2p programs.i also read that road runner was testing this out in texas somewhere, but weren't sure if they would start doing so everywhere.

if you stick to a smaller local ISP most do not care to encrypt it. if you go with anyone mainstream, comcast, verizon, road runner etc. etc. they have the money to dump on devices that do this.
