Is the Linksys WRT600N the only affordable (<$200) dual-band dual-radio gigabit router in Canada? I found the listing for the Buffalo WZR-AG300NH at ncix.com but it's a special order item that lists for $321, double the price of the WRT600N. The seemingly vaporware D-Link DIR-855 is listed on the D-link USA site, but not the Canada site. Are there any other ones in Canada?

The reason I want a dual-band dual-radio is because I want to setup a mixed wireless environment with the wireless-G devices on the 2.4GHz band and the A/N devices on the 5GHz band as well as gigabit for my wired devices. Here's a list of devices that will be connected to it:

    Thinkpad T61p w/4965AGN or gigE
    Acer 5920 w/3945ABG or gigaE
    E-Machines laptop w/802.11g
    Compaq laptop w/802.11g
    PC w/802.11g or gigE
    PC w/gigE
    Wii w/802.11g
    Xbox w/100mbit
    Xbox360 w/100mbit

I want to put the Thinkpad (N) and Acer (A) on the 5GHz channel and the other G devices on a separate 2.4GHz channel to minimize speed drops. I'm currently running an old Linksys WRT54G v2.2 w/Tomato firmware that's dying slowly. The router's WiFi keeps disconnecting all wireless devices at random intervals throughout the day but the wired is fine. I've tried Thibor, DD-WRT, and now Tomato firmwares, but none of them can maintain a stable wireless connection. I don't think it's interference although there are 6 other WiFi networks in range of my house, but they're all on channel 6 and 11, whereas I'm the only one on channel 1.

Also, does anyone know how well the WRT600N handles Bitorrent traffic? A couple of the computers are heavy BT users so the router will need to handle lots of frequest TCP connects and disconnects. I know the stock firmware on the WRT54G sucks for this, which is why I'm running 3rd party firmware, but I haven't read any info on how the WRT600N handles BT traffice with stock firmware.

While we're on the subject of 5GHz WiFi-N, anyone know what's up with the 20/40MHz wideband thing? From what I've been able to read on the smallnetbuilder.com site, setting the WiFi-N to 5GHz/40MHz wideband will mess up neighboring 2.4GHz/11g wifi networks, which I don't think my neighbors would really appreciate. Can I setup the WRT600N for 5GHz/20MHz? If so, are there any disadvantages to that?

I think the Apple Airport Extreme is a dual radio too. Have read bad review about the Buffalo router. Jump over to smallnetbuilder.com and read the review. The Apple rates the best.

    blue68f100,
I just read up on the Apple AirPort Extreme w/GigE and it's a single radio router, not dual radio so it won't work for me. It also only has 3 LAN ports, no SPI firewall, and no port triggering.
